The Endoscopy Laboratory of the Provincial Specialist Hospital in Tychy enables endoscopic procedures of the gastrointestinal tract for all patients of the Hospital. This is possible thanks to modern endoscopic equipment and a team of doctors and nurses with knowledge and many years of experience.
The laboratory performs not only basic diagnostic procedures (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), but also advanced therapeutic procedures. Due to the profile of the hospital, which has a permanent emergency duty, the following are performed on a daily basis:
- stopping bleeding into the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract,
- endoscopic polypectomy,
- minimally invasive resections of early forms of gastrointestinal cancers,
- procedures on the biliary and pancreatic ducts that avoid surgery or are a preparation for surgery,
- creating alternative feeding routes in patients for whom oral nutrition is impossible,
- widening of mild gastrointestinal tract strictures,
- in patients with inoperable neoplastic diseases (e.g. oesophagus, stomach, duodenum, large intestine, bile ducts) palliative prosthesis of occluded sections,
- pancreatic cyst drainage,
